Systems Engineering Basics

In this training you will learn how complex technical systems can be developed by interdisciplinary engineering teams, well recognized and proven processes, and methods keeping the goal: fulfil all stakeholder requirements, keep to the time frame, stay within budget, and meet the quality. After an introduction to systems engineering, the focus of the training will be on the systems engineering technical processes and the technical management of systems engineering. In addition, you will be introduced to the interface between project management and systems engineering.

The contents of the training will always be concrete for you due to demonstrations provided. You will deepen your knowledge with the help of a realistic and consistent training project including exercises with comprehensive explanations of the results.

Three days, from 9.00 a.m. – 17.00 p.m.

1. Introduction to Systems Engineering
• History of systems engineering, goal of systems engineering, role of systems engineer, systems, systems thinking, work breakdown structure, model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
2. Systems Engineering Processes
• Define stakeholder expectations, define system requirements, define system architecture, define design, implemantation, integration, verification, validation, transition, operation and maintenance, decommissioning
3. Technical Managementt
• Technical risk management, interface management, technical assessment, configuration management, technical data management, decision analysis
4. Interfaces to Project Management
• Roles and responsibilities in the systems engineering team, work breakdown structure

Live online trainings are preferably offered.

In the live online training, a practice proven didactical approach is applied to ensure your learning success, the training contents will be thoroughly developed with you in dialogue and on blackboards. No slides will be shown or read aloud.
